How To : Apply Lipstick and Makeup It Last All Day

How To : Apply Lipstick and Makeup It Last All Day

Keeping your lipstick on your lips is a challenge for a lot of us. There are tons of great long-wear lipsticks out there on the market, but here's a trick to make your lipstick long-lasting even if it's a traditional formula.

All you need is lipstick, a similar or matching liner, translucent powder, a brush, and a tissue.
Step One: Define your lip shape with liner. I like to start by making an x at the Cupid's bow, a little u shape on the bottom lip, and arrows at the corner, and then connecting the lines. Don't worry if it looks silly, you're going to be filling it in anyway!

Step Two: Fill in your entire upper and bottom lip with liner. This is an important step. Lip liner is drier than lipstick and will adhere to your lips, which will help the color stay, even if your creamy lipstick formula wears off.

Step Three: Apply lipstick. I like to use a brush for precision, but you can also just apply straight from the tube. If I'm doing a super intense color, sometimes I will do two coats, blotting in between.

Step Four: Take your tissue and pull it apart so you only have 1 ply. Lay it over your lips and powder on top of the tissue. This will let a small amount of powder set your lipstick without it looking dry or dulling the color!

Tacky Lipstick

Tacky Lipstick

Don’t get me wrong, the right shade of lipstick can instantly give you a confidence boost, but a bold, unnatural color isn’t attractive on most women. It distracts from the rest of your face and can make you look like you’re trying too hard. If you do decide to make a bold choice, keep the rest of your makeup simple, and skip the gloss. A bright lipstick combined with smokey eyes and flushed cheeks can look more clown-like than pretty.

8 Things Only Girls With Thin Lips Understand

8 Things Only Girls With Thin Lips Understand

Ah, the fish face. All of us selfie-loving girls know it well. For some, it’s the perfect opportunity to show off our plump, luscious lips, while for others, it’s a chance to show that we have lips, period. The fact of the matter is, many of us bear the burden of a thin-lipped life. And with this life comes a certain mindset and responsibility. Not sure what we’re talking about? Read on...

1. Kylie Jenner is your idol and gives you hope for a brighter, plumper future.  A victory for one is a victory for all.

2. When your guy kisses you it feels like your face is being sucked into a pool drain.  Seriously, even when he gives you a quick, goodbye smooch.

3. You only buy lip products that include the word “plump” in the titleThat tingling, burning sensation has become very comforting.

4. The lipstick mark left on your coffee mug looks more like someone drew a ring on it with a SharpieThat mark is just a constant reminder of the burden you bear.

5. You never wonder if lipstick is on your teeth because IT ISNo mirror-check necessary.

6. Your cupid’s bow is more like cupid’s tightropeYour application process consists of two lines. TWO lines.

7. Forget lining your lips, FINDING them is half the battleSometimes you just guess and go from there.

8. Sometimes you wish your face would run into something so you can experience the joy of swollen lips. You’ve even tried to pay your brother to “accidentally” elbow you in the face.

BLAZING SEDUCTIVE LIPS

BLAZING SEDUCTIVE LIPS

Lips are going to be the top accent in this year`s makeup conception. And to achieve those gorgeous and seductive blazing lips rely on dark nuances, as well as on softer lipsticks that have plumping effect. As to the shades, you can improvise, but avoid ordinary peach and pink nuances. Replace them with cool red, amazing purple and brilliant plum-shaded products.

Plump Your Lips with an Eye Liner in Pink is a Total Disaster.

Plump Your Lips with an Eye Liner in Pink is a Total Disaster.

Old-fashioned retro way to plump your lips with an eye liner in pink is a total disaster. If your lips are too thin, get yourself an awesome gloss with plumping effect or simply go for a brighter colour, which will help you to compensate the “volume” with the “artistic colourful side” of your lips. Still, keep in mind that this method is ok, but to apply it you need to be a real pro, because every wrong move leads to wrong face at all!

Make Your Lip Color Last: The Secret to Long-Lasting Lipstick

Make Your Lip Color Last: The Secret to Long-Lasting Lipstick

Feel like your lipstick is always running out on you? Want it to hang out a little longer? Here are 9 steps to lock those lips into place!

1. To ensure your lipstick lasts, you'll want to ensure there are no flakes of dead skin renting out space on your pout. Use a lip scrub like e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator or Bliss Fabulips to exfoliate those little dudes away.
2. Next, apply a hydrating, non-oily lip balm. Anything with a waxy consistency is preferred over a slippery texture that will cause color to slide right off. I love Sephora's Super Nourishing Lip Balm.
3. Pat a little foundation or concealer over lips. Don't entirely erase your mouth, but cancel out your lip's natural pink so that your lip color's true hue comes through. This also gives it a little something extra to adhere to. If you have a dark skin tone, this also helps enhance the lipstick's true color.
4. If you're wearing a bold lip color, outlining the outer edge of your lip line with concealer or the NYX Wonder Pencilwill create a barrier to prevent bleeding. It's basically like installing a fence for your lipstick! Outline and tap softly with your finger to blend.
5. Now, take a lip liner and outline the lips, as well as fill them in. The lip pencil is drier than lipstick and serves as a layer of color for the lipstick to grab onto. I am using NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Rose.
6. Begin applying your color selectively, instead of just swiping across the whole lip. This makes for even, controlled application. I am using the Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Quince. I've had particularly good luck with this product's staying power and the pigmentation is just beautiful.
7. Fill in the rest of your lips.
8. Take a tissue and separate it into two halves. Place one sheet on your lips and dust a translucent powder like Make Up For Ever HD Powder over the lips, through the tissue. This is a trick you'll see makeup artists doing backstage at fashion shows. Now you won't worry that it's some model torture treatment. This sets the color, without depositing a layer of powder.
9. Lightly apply a bit more lipstick on top. Now smile. Your lip color is ready to go the distance!
Did you know?
  • There is no such thing as a lipgloss that lasts all day. If you want a glossy look, you will have to reapply throughout the day. Or place a dab in the center of the lip and not all over.
  • Matte formulas will last longer but can be drying, so don't skip the prep!
  • Using lip liner will always make your color last longer. Make sure you fill in the lip entirely!
  • Use a lip brush for a more precise application.

Floral Print Blazer with Sexy Jumpsuit and Pop Pumps | Spring Street Outfits

Floral Print Blazer with Sexy Jumpsuit and Pop Pumps | Spring Street Outfits

Hi, my dear! Today I want to share with you my little rowdy, but, nevertheless, feminine autfitom. If you've been reading my blog, or recently opened it for yourself, you have noticed my love for such accessories like sunglasses. I consider this an indispensable accessory and able to create an atmosphere of everyday image. Often glasses rescue us girls, helping to hide our reluctance to put a make or hide signs of fatigue around the eyes. For me, glasses and even psychological barrier. For example, when I'm in them, feel Miss invisible.
Lately I prefer the unusual models, the farther the more strange, but extremely steep points to find its arsenal. Now here I really liked the vintage glasses, I'm just in awe of them. Inspired by the successful experience, I have looked after and selected for several options to ShopBop. I hope that you will find something for themselves.

Paper Denim and Knit Sweater | Classic White Street Style & Ideas

Paper Denim and Knit Sweater | Classic White Street Style & Ideas

There’s nothing I love more than being cozy. No matter if I’m running around or lazying in a café, I always love to feel comfy and this usually is determined by the fabric or the structure of the clothing I wear. I love it when it’s wool,  cotton or even better cashmere, when it’s loose and fluffy like a cloud. This incredible Paper Denim & Cloth sweater that I found on Revolve was a real heaven to spend the day in.
With that in mind, I also decided to forget about my regular high heels addiction for a day and slip inside some Gucci loafers to prove that comfy can also be chic. And that’s not only because these are Gucci, there are so many gorgeous loafers in the shops right now, all colors of the rainbow : nothing more comfy than that. Throw on a structured coat over the shoulders or pair your knit to an interesting skirt to add a touch of sophistication to the look!
Today, James and I are travelling to Shanghai. I am so excited to be back. Last time we were in the city with Hugo Boss, this time we are attending an exclusive Gala with Oméga and there are many surprises awaiting. My L.A jet lag hasn’t really healed over the week-end but I am very curious to see how my body will react to the (again) new time zone! I promise myself to sleep as tight as possible on the way there!!! If you guys have ANY suggestions regarding restaurants, bars, or places to see, please write me :) x.

5 TUTORIALS TO TEACH YOUR TEEN HOW TO HIDE BLEMISHES & ACNE

5 TUTORIALS TO TEACH YOUR TEEN HOW TO HIDE BLEMISHES & ACNE

Did you suffer from acne when you were a teenager?
I did.
And it really sucked.
Thankfully, my breakouts never left scars on my body, but I had enough spots on my face, back, and chest to make me feel very self-conscious at school, and because the internet didn’t exist back then and my mother doesn’t wear makeup (I often wonder if we’re related?), I never learned how to hide blemishes and acne properly.Which made my teenage years really awkward.
So, with back-to-school around the corner, I decided to put together some great tutorials to help teach your teen how to hide blemishes and acne.
Because the teenage years are hard enough, you know?

4. How to Make Acne Scars Disappear by gossmakeupartist

White Dotted Vest Top with Flare Pant and White Pumps | Chic Summer Outfits

White Dotted Vest Top with Flare Pant and White Pumps | Chic Summer Outfits

This is another great look for the office (I think I've been inspired to think of more work-friendly outfits since my sister just got a job in the city and she dresses so nice everyday!), and the dotted vest really adds that unexpected feminine touch.  Tailor and Stylist is really your go-to store for polished, polished and ladylike pieces. I normally would have paired silver jewelry with this look but felt like rose gold would be a nice twist. :)
